This residential project is located in the city of Accra, Ghana and has 180m2 of construction.//Este proyecto residencial se ubica en la ciudad de Accra, Ghana y cuenta con 189m2 de construcción
Within the 859m2 land there is a house which contains a small apartment where the client currently lives. As his needs change, he decides to plan to build a new adjacent house for himself and his family and convert his current apartment into a guest suite.//Dentro del terreno de 859m2 se encuentra una casa la cual contiene un pequeño departamento donde el cliente vive actualmente. Al momento de que sus necesidades cambian, decide planear construir una nueva casa adjacente para él y su familia y convertir su deparamento actual en una suite para visitas.
The main circulation of the project is based on the connection axis between the guest suite and the new house, trying to optimize the spaces to cover the least possible surface of the land.//La circulación principal del proyecto se basa en el eje de conexión entre la recámara de visitas y la nueva casa procurando optimizar los espacios para abarcar la menor superficie posible del terreno
The architectural program is divided into three levels, the ground floor contains the common areas, the first floor the private spaces and the third a rooftop for recreation and gatherings.//El programa arquitectónico se divide en tres plantas, la primera cuenta con las áreas comunes, la segunda con los espacios privados y la tercera con un rooftop para esparcimiento y convivios.
For the client, his privacy was of utmost importance, which is why the staircase is proposed as an independent volume where family and friends can go up the rooftop without having to enter the rest of the house. The same happens with the small studio, which has its independent access.//Para el cliente era de suma importancia su privacidad, es por ello que la escalera se maneja como un volúmen independiente donde familia y amigos pueden ingresar al rooftop sin necesidad de ingresar al resto de la casa. Lo mismo sucede con el pequeño estudio, el cuál tiene su acceso independiente.
Ghana has a tropical monsoon climate (very rainy summers and dry winters) and one of the most common construction materials is sandcrete block.//Ghana cuenta con un clima tropical monzónico (veranos lluviosos e inviernos secos) y uno de los materiales de consturcción más común es el block de cemento-arena.
To help dissipate heat inside the house, we proposed certain lower ceiling-level walls to optimize air flow. Para ayudar disipar el calor en interior de la caa se propusieron ciertos muros más bajos de nivel de plafón para optimizar el flujo del aire.
Our goal was to achieve a tailored made house for the client, taking into consideration his needs and lifestyle; a home that felt cozy and ideal for raising a family.//Nuestro objetivo era el lograr una casa hecha a la medida del cliente, tomando en consideración sus necesidades y estilo de vida; un hogar que se sintiera acogedr e ideal para formar una famlia.
One of the spaces that the client is most excited about is the rooftop and although, they live in a very hot region, he says this does not stop them from enjoying the outdoor spaces.//Uno de los esapcios que más le emocionan al cliente es el rooftop y aunque se encuentran en una region caliente, él comenta que esto no les impide disfrutar los espacios exteriores.
