A year after completing Dos Panes Restaurant, we were invited back to adapt its terrace in response to the restaurant’s growing popularity and need for additional seating. //Un año después de concluir Dos Panes Restaurant, fuimos invitados nuevamente para adaptar su terraza, respondiendo a la creciente popularidad del restaurante y a la necesidad de ampliar su capacidad.
Located in Mexicali, a desert city known for its extreme climate, the terrace could only be comfortably used for a few months of the year. The goal was therefore to transform this outdoor area into an enclosed, air-conditioned space, allowing the restaurant to expand its seating capacity while maintaining the relaxed character of the original terrace.//Ubicado en Mexicali, una ciudad desértica conocida por su clima extremo, la terraza únicamente podía disfrutarse durante algunos meses del año. El objetivo fue transformar esta área exterior en un espacio cerrado y climatizado, permitiendo ampliar la capacidad del restaurante sin perder el carácter relajado de la terraza original.
Working within a limited budget, the design focused on bringing the outdoor atmosphere indoors through the creative reuse of existing materials. The wooden pallets originally used on the façade were relocated to the interior, while the exterior was redesigned using the same concept of reclaimed wood, creating a fresh and casual aesthetic.//Trabajando con un presupuesto limitado, la propuesta se enfocó en trasladar la esencia del exterior al interior mediante la reutilización creativa de materiales existentes. Los pallets de madera que originalmente formaban parte de la fachada fueron reubicados al interior, mientras que el exterior se rediseñó siguiendo el mismo concepto de madera recuperada, creando una estética fresca y casual.
Hanging terrariums by Detalles en Espinas were incorporated throughout the space, adding greenery, texture, and a final layer of character to the new dining area.//Terrarios colgantes realizados por Detalles en Espinas se incorporaron al espacio, aportando vegetación, textura y una última capa de carácter a la nueva área del restaurante.
